Pedestrian Struck At Central Jersey Shop Rite: Developing
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a Central Jersey Shop Rite parking lot, according to developing and unconfirmed reports. The crash occurred before 7 p.m. at 3600 Park Ave. in South Plainfield, initial reports said. Police had requested a medical helicopter for an airlift to an area hospital. Beloved Hunterdon County native and Penn State graduate Megan Elizabeth Greene died after a long illness on Jan. 6. She was 38. Born in South Plainfield, Greene grew up in Hunterdon County before moving to Connecticut with her family during her high school years, her obituary says. CVS Shutters Central Jersey Store Amid Plan To Close Hundreds
CVS Health has closed one of its New Jersey stores as part of a broader plan to shutter 900 stores by 2024. The company’s only store in Metuchen, located at 45 Pearl St. closed on Dec. 28, according to several reports. “All prescriptions will be seamlessly transferred to the nearby CVS Pharmacy at 913 Oak Tree Ave. in South Plainfield, which is less than 4 miles away, ensuring that pharmacy customers continue to have uninterrupted access to service," the company said in a statement. An Elizabeth fugitive wanted for robbing a bank and two convenience stores in New Jersey at gunpoint was captured following a high-speed stolen car chase on Route 80 in Nebraska, federal authorities said Friday. Potentially Harmful Chemicals Found In NJ Drinking Water
A New Jersey water company warned customers of potentially toxic chemicals in the drinking water Monday. The level of Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) in the water of all its customers in Carteret, Clark, Edison, Metuchen, South Plainfield and Woodbridge had exceeded acceptable regulatory standards, Middlesex Water Company said in a notice. IDA: Death Toll Climbs To 23 In New Jersey
The death toll caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida that tore through New Jersey Wednesday had climbed to 23 as of Thursday afternoon, Gov. Phil Murphy said at a press conference.
