Dog Found Abandoned, Tied To Pole On Southern State Parkway
A female Mastiff dog was rescued after authorities found her tied to a light pole with a note and food bowl nearby. It happened on Monday, July 1 in Hempstead, according to New York State Police. At around 5:30 a.m. that morning, Troopers responded to calls about an abandoned dog tied to a light pole near Exit 21 on the Southern State Parkway. The dog, a white Mastiff named Roxi was found tied to the pole with a leash. Fatal Crash: 57-Year-Old ID'd As Victim On Southern State Parkway In Oyster Bay
One person was killed in a crash on the Southern State Parkway involving two vehicles. It happened around 2 p.m. Friday, May 31 in Oyster Bay. Responding New York State Police troopers observed the vehicles involved in the crash: a white Toyota Camry and a black Chevrolet Colorado. Authorities have identified a Long Island man who was killed by a wrong-way driver on the Southern State Parkway. The crash happened at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, near Exit 43A in Islip. New York State Police said a 2004 Buick was going westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided with a Honda motorcycle, ejecting the rider from his bike. The closure in West Babylon, on the eastbound side, was at Exit 37 (Belmont Avenue). Fatal Crash: 38-Year-Old From East Northport ID'd As Victim In East Farmingdale
A Long Island resident was killed in an overnight crash just north of the Southern State Parkway. It happened around 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in East Farmingdale. Suffolk County Police said the man was operating a 2022 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on New Highway when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. The victim, identified as James Pust, age 38, of East Northport, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, where he was pronounced dead.
