Union County Street Shuts Down For Outdoor Summer Dining
A busy stretch of Union County roadway will soon be shut down for outdoor summer dining, officials said. Maple Street in Summit will be closed in both directions from Springfield Avenue to the nearest alleyways starting Thursday, May 5, Summit Communications Chief Amy Cairns said. The decision comes following a unanimous vote by the Summit Common Council on Tuesday, May 3. The street will remain closed for outdoor dining through Wednesday, Nov. 30, Cairns said.

Man Charged After Threatening Others With BB Handgun At Morris County Hotel: Police
A 19-year-old man was slapped with several charges after he allegedly threatened others with a BB handgun at a Morris County hotel. Aidan Harrington, of Summit, was found with the weapon as officers responded to the threat report at the Red Carpet Inn on Friday, March 11, Hanover Police said. Harrington was charged with threatening to commit aggravated assault, possession of a firearm with a purpose to use unlawfully, and other weapons offenses, police said. He was being held in Morris County Jail pending an initial court appearance.

A pedestrian was struck and injured by a train Thursday afternoon in Summit, officials said. The pedestrian was struck by NJ Transit's Morris & Essex line train 6625 near the Summit Station around 12:45 p.m., NJT spokesman Everett Merrill said.
