Well, the cat might be out of the bag that a super-secret Amazon Fresh supermarket will open in Fairfield County after officials filed paperwork for a sign. According to documents filed recently with Westport's Architectural Review Board, show an Amazon Fresh sign and store space, indicating the much-hyped store will open at the Post Plaza, located on Post Road East in Westport. The documents and rendering presented to the town show a green-and-white Amazon Fresh logo, and the plans indicate that Amazon is the company's client. A popular Westchester supermarket is set to open two new locations in the area. Fans of the specialty grocery store will be happy to know that DeCicco & Sons recently announced its plans to open a new market in Bedford in March. The new store will be the 10th store for the chain which also has an 11th location planned for Edge-on-Hudson in Sleepy Hollow. No word yet on when that store will open. Authorities: 12-Year-Old Boy Torched South Jersey Grocery Store
A 12-year-old boy has been arrested for setting fire to the parking garage below an Acme grocery store in South Jersey, authorities said. The Acme at Eighth Street and West Avenue was reported on fire at 12:53 p.m. Sunday and the grocery store had to be evacuated. No one was hurt, but the store remained closed on Tuesday. Lidl Supermarket Chain Eyeing Bayonne Location: Report
German grocery chain Lidl, which is in the midst of an expansion in the Garden State, is looking to open a location in Bayonne, Jersey Digs magazine recently reported. In a statement to Jersey Digs, Lidl declined to release much specific information, but confirmed it was looking at a location in the city. The website for JMF Properties lists a Lidl supermarket as one of the tenants planned for the Harbor View Marketplace development on Route 440, Jersey Digs also reported.
