The Nassau County Police Department said officers responded to California Avenue Elementary School in Uniondale after an alarm was set off around 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Long Island Man Sentenced For Killing Mother A Long Island man will spend nearly two decades behind bars after being sentenced for stabbing his mother dozens of times and assaulting his father over a workplace argument turned deadly, authorities announced. Syosset resident Ian Kazer, age 31, was sentenced to 16 years in prison following a trial for his mother’s killing and the attempted murder of his father at his parents’ home in 2019. Kazer was convicted in June in a bench trial of manslaughter, attempted murder, assault, and grand larceny. Man Seriously Injured In Long Island Crash A driver suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash overnight on Long Island. The Nassau County Police Department said the crash happened around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, in Syosset.  Police said a 64-year-old man was northbound in a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe on Cold Spring Road near Renee Road when he struck a tree.  Authorities said the driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.  NCPD said the investigation is ongoing.

According to Nassau County Police detectives, a 35-year-old man driving a Lexus sedan was in a collision with a 54-year-old woman behind the wheel of a Porsche Macan traveling westbound on the expressway near exit 43.   As a result of the collision, the man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
