There will be a single lane closure near the new Tappan Zee Bridge next week as contracting crews continue installing precast concrete deck panels for the eastbound span following the installation of the structure’s final steel girders. Update: New Tappan Zee Bridge Reopens After Crash Causes Hours-Long Closure
This story has been updated. The southbound lanes of the new Tappan Zee Bridge have reopened after a pre-dawn crash involving an overturned flatbed truck causes its closure for nearly four hours. The pre-dawn crash occurred near Exit 11 near the span to the Westchester-bound bridge span. Traffic was at a standstill stretching back to Exit 14 (Spring Valley). Motorists were advised to take the Bear Mountain Bridge or the George Washington Bridge until the crash scene was cleared just before 9 a.m.

According to FAA officials, six Blue Angel F/A-18 jets will be heading north along the Hudson River past the bridge before they turn south and fly to LaGuardia Airport. Cost Of New Tappan Zee Bridge May Be $1 Billion Over Budget, Report Says
The new Tappan Zee Bridge may come in at a final cost of more than $4 billion dollars, nearly $1 billion above the base contract, according to a recently released Politico report. Contractors may be seeking upwards of $900 million in claims against the Thruway Authority, according to the report, on top of the $3.142 billion base contract, which exceeds the $548 million that had originally been budgeted for contingencies, though that number is reportedly expected to shrink. Coast Guard Beaches Six Barges That Went Loose On Hudson
The Coast Guard and partner agencies have beached six barges that broke away from their moored location on the Hudson River. The construction barges were drifting south of the Tappan Zee Bridge on Friday afternoon. The barges were beached in various locations between Dobbs Ferry and Yonkers.
