Two-Alarm House Fire Causes Roadway Closure In Northern Westchester
This story has been updated. A two-alarm house fire has caused the closure of a roadway in Northern Westchester. Fire departments from multiple municipalities are battling the blaze on Virginia Lane in Thornwood, which has resulted in the closure of Nannyhagen Road between Westlake Drive and Swanson Drive early Monday evening, April 29. Family Displaced By North White Plains Fire
No injuries were reported when an early morning fire temporarily displaced a family in Westchester. First responders were dispatched to a North White Plains residence shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday, April 26, where there was a report of a fire in the basement of the home. Cop Honored For Saving 5-Year-Old From Attack By Rabid Coyote In Westchester
A police officer from the area received a prestigious honor after coming to the rescue of a 5-year-old girl being attacked by a rabid coyote. The Pittsburgh-based Carnegie Hero Fund Commission announced that Irvington police officer Arcangelo Liberatore was one of 19 people being celebrated with the Carnegie Medals of Heroism. A fire broke out in a Westchester home on Sunday night, prompting a heavy response from area fire departments, who quickly knocked down the flames. A 39-year-old Northern Westchester man was busted with a large-caliber handgun after police received a tip he would be in the area with the weapon. Just hours after being celebrated at their annual parade, firefighters from Ossining and other assisting departments jumped into action when a basement fire broke out at a building downtown.
