School Bus Company Brothers Charged With Using Criminals, Unlicensed Drivers In Bergen, Passaic
A River Edge police officer was in for a surprise when he pulled over a school bus driver for running a stop sign earlier this year. The driver for American Star Transportation of Paterson not only didn't have a license -- he had a criminal case pending in court for patronizing a prostitute, authorities said. Two brothers who operate American Star were arrested this week by state authorities who said they employed criminals and people with suspended licenses as drivers and then lied about it. CALL: Female Driver, 75, Hospitalized After Tree Falls On SUV In Englewood
A 75-year-old driver was injured but narrowly escaped a more tragic fate when a falling tree hit her car in Englewood. The Totowa motorist was headed south on Broad Avenue near Huguenot Avenue in her 2002 Lexus SUV when the tree toppled onto the roadway, taking down a utility pole and wires that fell across the vehicle, around 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, Police Lt. Fred Pulice said. She complained of pain to her neck and back and was taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, Pulice said. That stretch of Broad Avenue remained closed while the tree was removed and repairs were made.

Paterson Man, 18, Charged With Shooting Totowa Motorist In Botched Robbery Attempt
An 18-year-old Paterson resident shot a Totowa man during a botched robbery, authorities charged. Wiziar Johnson is charged with attempted murder, among other counts, for the Nov. 15 shooting around midnight near the corner of Franklin and Mercer streets, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Three men and a teenager led police on a wild pursuit after crashing a stolen BMW, and then hopping in a Lexus SUV, causing one state trooper to crash his vehicle on the Garden State Parkway over the weekend, authorities said. A Paterson mechanic was caught distributing child porn online -- including to himself, authorities said. Nekia T.
