Connecticut State Police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a wrong-way overnight crash killed a woman. The incident took place in Hartford County in Manchester around 11:43 p.m., Sunday, July 10 on Interstate 291. According to state police, Samantha Smith, age 31, of Windsor Locks, was driving the wrong way in a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on I-291 East when she struck a tractor-trailer head-on near Exit 5. Multiple Water Rescues In Central Jersey Due To Severe Flooding
Police, firefighters and EMS crews were busy rescuing stranded motorists as flood waters rose, authorities said. In Dunellen, Middlesex County, there was a report of a water rescue that required mutual aid about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. Multiple water rescues also were reported in Monmouth County, reports said. Routes 35 and 36 in Keyport and Hazlet were closed to traffic due to flooding and numerous motorists trapped about 7:30 a.m., reports said. One Dead, Two Seriously Injured In Three-Vehicle Fairfield County Crash
A three-vehicle crash in Fairfield County has left a man dead and two others seriously injured. The crash took place around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, on Route 59 between Maple and Judd roads in Easton. Two of the vehicles were traveling south and one was traveling north, said Easton Police Chief Richard Doyle. The first Easton officer to arrive on the scene found a male passenger who was unresponsive and a citizen administering CPR, Doyle said. The identity of the man killed in an early morning crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer and a car that shut down a stretch of I-84 for more than 10 hours on Monday has been released. The closure occurred on eastbound I-84 at Exit 17 (Ludingtonville Road/Route 43) in Kent. A busy Northern Westchester roadway will be closed for several days this week as crews continue work in the area. The Yorktown Police Department issued an alert warning that beginning on Wednesday, Quinlan Street will be closed immediately south of Manchester Road.
