There’s light at the end of the tunnel for Orange and Rockland county residents as utility crews continue cleaning up from the damage done by Tropical Storm Isaias.
Orange & Rockland Utilities reported on Friday, Aug. 7 that it restored nearly 80 percent of the reported outages caused by the storm, though thousands are still waiting to turn the lights back on.
According to Orange & Rockland, 12,730 of its 117,244 customers in Rockland were without power, while 5,784 of its 104,130 Orange County customers were reporting outages.

Despite calling in outside contractors to assist, thousands of Con Edison and NYSEG customers in Westchester are still reporting outages three days after the storm toppled trees and power lines.
In Westchester, on Friday, Aug. 7, 64,864 of Con Edison’s 360,045 customers are without power, while 11,858 of NYSEG’s 33,278 customers were reporting outages.

Some Long Islanders could be without power until early next week as PSEG continues working to repair nearly 20,000 outages three days after Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked havoc on the East Coast.
PSEG utility crews were working to repair 19,270 outages that were affecting 202,398 of their customers on Long Island as of 9:20 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7 as they continue clearing trees, limbs, wires, and debris.

Con Edison has drawn the ire of some elected officials in Westchester as thousands remain without power as the utility company works to recover from Tropical Storm Isaias.
Though crews are working around the clock to make repairs following the devastating storm, more than 70,000 of Con Edison’s 360,045 customers remain without power, with some possibly not being able to turn the lights back on until Monday, Aug. 10.
