Authorities: Empty Bed Of Roll-Off Truck Was Raised When It Hit RR Bridge In Hawthorne
UPDATE: A driver was hospitalized after the raised bed of his roll-off truck struck a railroad bridge and landed on its side Monday morning in Hawthorne, authorities said. The driver apparently had just delivered a trash container and drove off without lowering the bed before it struck the nearby Wagaraw Road bridge at Lincoln Street at 6:49 a.m., said Nancy Snyder, NJ Transit's chief media relations and communications officer. Two Hospitalized After Serious Single-Vehicle Crash In Fairfield County
Two were hospitalized with severe injuries after a truck crashed into a tree before coming to a rest along a rock wall in Fairfield County, police said. It happened in Darien at the intersection of Hollow Tree Ridge Road and Allowed Road around 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17. An overturned tractor-trailer caused the northbound lanes of I-95 in Bristol Township to close early Wednesday morning, authorities said. First responders arrived at I-95 at Exit 40 near Fort Road around 9:40 a.m., where they found an overturned tractor-trailer carrying bread products partially down the embankment after colliding with a Nissan Maxima, according to Cpl. Truck Driver Dies In Pennsylvania Turnpike Crash
A truck driver died in a Pennsylvania Turnpike crash overnight Friday. The tractor-trailer went off the Turnpike bridge in the eastbound lanes and landed along the banks of Neshaminy Creek below around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, near the Newportville Road overpass in Bristol Township. A driver escaped injury when his truck tipped Monday morning at the Glen Rock-Fair Lawn border just off Route 208. A dump truck driver nearly crashed off a mountain and into the Delaware River after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a rock retaining wall. The incident took place in Orange County around 8:20 a.m., Thursday, in Sparrow Bush, said the Sparrow Bush Fire Department. Authorities have identified the driver of an SUV killed in a head-on crash with a tractor trailer late Wednesday in Gloucester County. Carl E. Cheeseman Jr., 30, of Vineland, was driving westbound on Route 40 near Rosemont Avenue and Harding Avenue in Newfield about 11 p.m. when police think he swerved to avoid a deer. The operator of a box truck was killed after he drove off the left shoulder while driving northbound on I-87, striking a post in the road's median that catapulted his vehicle off the road's right shoulder into a guide rail and caused the truck to overturn, police said. A box truck toppled a utility pole and then slammed into a tree on a Fair Lawn resident's lawn Friday afternoon. The driver wasn't seriously injured in the crash on River Road near Chittenden Road. Flaming Tractor-trailer Causes Traffic On 495
A trash tractor-trailer has caught on fire and is causing a traffic jam on Route 495. At around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, Berlin Police responded to a report of a truck accident on 495 North, between exits 26 and 27. Bolton Fire and Emergency Services have responded as well as Berlin firefighter. Police are asking people to seek alternate routes “as this will greatly affect the morning commute,” police said.

A first-alarm fire caused by a truck that hit a transformer on a telephone wire providing electricity to a Fairfield County home caused approximately $40,000 in damages, according to area firefighters.
