Man, 20, Shot And Killed In Elizabeth, Reward Of Up To $10K For Info
A 20-year-old Elizabeth man was fatally shot in the city early Saturday, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said. Jamile Robbins was found by police in a parking lot of Irvington Avenue. He was taken to Trinitas Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Elizabeth police, the Union County Sheriff and Union County police, along with the county Homicide Task Force, are all involved in the investigation. Gang Member Sentenced In Killing Of 'Beloved' Plainfield Man
A 26-year-old Plainfield man who killed a bystander when he opened fire on a crowd of neighbors outside enjoying a pleasant spring night three years ago has been sentenced to 48 years in prison, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said. Shaquille Spruiel killed Willie Lee Major, 37, at the Liberty Village housing complex May 25, 2016. Major had not been specifically targeted by Spruiel, authorities said. A 12-year-old who was hit by a van near an intersection in Union Wednesday night has died, police said. The boy was struck by a driver who did not remain at the scene around 8 p.m. near Forest Drive and Galloping Hill Road. Rahway Man Gets 13 Years For Selling Deadly Crack-Fentanyl Cocktail
A Rahway drug dealer who sold a lethal cocktail of narcotics that killed at least three people was sentenced Tuesday to 13 years in state prison, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office said. George Rayford, 39, must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Rayford sold crack cocaine laced with fentanyl from his Whelan Place home on Dec. 22, 2017. Fentanyl is an opioid several times more potent than heroin. A suspect in the killing of a Plainfield man in May was arrested last week after spending weeks on the run, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said Monday. Authorities have been looking for Djuan Gamble, 26, since at least June 12, when he was charged with murder and related weapons offenses in connection to the death of 32-year-old Jaquan Heyward. A person who was initially identified only as a male was shot and killed at a Roselle apartment complex Friday night, police said. The Union County Prosecutor's Office later identified the victim as a 27-year-old Roselle man, Justin Claiborne.
