Hawthorne Traffic Stops: Three Lies, Three Heroin Busts
Three different drivers who weren’t truthful with Hawthorne police were found carrying heroin during separate stops, authorities said. Upstate New York driver Gregory Valentine, 48, “appeared very nervous and was shaking” when officers stopped his 2012 Honda Accord on Goffle Road near Warburton Avenue, Detective Sgt. Matthew Hoogmoed said. Asked where he was coming from, Valentine said he was “looking at trucks for his boss” at an excavating company, Hoogmoed said. Budd Lake Mourns Katie Falgiano, 19, Killed In 'Mountain Madness' Motorsports Rollover
The Budd Lake community is mourning the loss of a 19-year-old woman who became an organ donor after being killed at a motorsports event last weekend. Katie L. Falgiano was ejected from a vehicle she was riding in and partially pinned beneath it at Mountain Madness in upstate New York around 9 p.m. Saturday, the Montgomery County Sheriff's officials said. The first full day of spring will see a strong storm system sweep through the East Coast, bringing heavy rain to the area and snow to upstate New York and northern New England on Thursday, March 21 into Friday, March 22. New snowfall projections for the complex storm that will sweep through the Northeast show widely varying totals, with parts of the region seeing up to nearly half a foot but areas farther south and east expected to get just an inch or less of accumulation. A high school science teacher and coach accidentally shot and killed his 34-year-old wife while allegedly cleaning his gun in upstate New York, state police said.
