A 20-year-old Elizabeth man was arrested and charged after he was caught entering multiple vehicles in New Providence, authorities announced Tuesday, Sept. 23.
At 11:44 a.m., officers responded to Deerfield Road after a suspect, later identified as Saleem Martins, was observed entering three vehicles, New Providence police said.
Upon arrival, Martins fled on foot toward South Street, police said. While officers were searching for him, they received a report of a burglary on Hawthorne Drive, with the suspect matching Martins’ description.

Three teenage burglaries were recently arrested and charged in Bayonne with breaking into multiple vehicles, authorities said.
On Saturday, March 15, at 3 30 a.m., officers responded to a vehicle break-in at 2nd Street and Avenue C, and learned several other vehicles had been entered by the same suspects, Bayonne police said. Two fully loaded handguns were taken from one of the vehicles, police said.

On Sunday, June 16, at 4:57 a.m., police spotted a teen breaking into an Audi Q5 and Jeep Wrangler, parked at a residence on the 600 block of 4th Street, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. The teen ran toward an awaiting Kia Sportage, filled with occupants wearing ski masks, and flee the area, Miller said.

A 29-year-old Rockaway resident was arrested for burglary following a foot pursuit in Fairfield on Tuesday, July 2, authorities said.
At 9:35 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle burglary at a business on Daniel Road East, Fairfield police said in a release. Police noticed Matthew Logan, who matched the description of the suspect, in the parking lot of the PNC Bank on Little Falls Road, officers said.

Police began their investigation on the morning of Thursday, May 4, when a Sandpiper Key resident said someone had broken into their parked vehicle and taken money, police said.
