A vehicle crash and overturned tractor-trailer brought a massive emergency response to the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County early Tuesday, May 14. A driver from Philadelphia was seriously hurt in the crash, according to New Jersey State Police. Troopers responded to the crash at about 6 a.m. at Interchange 4 in Mount Laurel Township. A 64-year-old man from the region has died following a two-vehicle crash in New Jersey. The wreck happened at around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, March 10, on Route 78 in Warren County. Carmen Berretta, of Albany, collided with another vehicle while driving eastbound on Route 78 in Pohatcong Township, authorities said. He was taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. Two state troopers were hospitalized after their vehicle was struck during a traffic stop in Hunterdon County on the early morning of Sunday, Feb. 25, state police said. At 2:50 a.m., troopers were conducting a motor vehicle stop on the right shoulder of Route 78 west in Readington Township when the driver of a Toyota lost directional control and sideswiped the police car, Troy McNair, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The troopers sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital, McNair said. The crash remains under investigation, McNair said.
