An accused drunk driver is behind bars following a fiery, two-vehicle crash that killed a man on Long Island. The wreck happened in Hicksville, near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Cantiague Rock Road, at around 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. Nassau County Police said a Subaru was making a left turn from eastbound Prospect Avenue onto northbound Cantiague Rock Road when it struck a westbound Honda. SUV Goes Up In Flames On I-287 In Purchase
A lane of a busy interstate in Westchester was temporarily blocked after flames engulfed a vehicle. The blaze happened on Interstate 287 West in Purchase on Tuesday, Sept. 17 around 5:30 a.m., when an SUV caught on fire, according to the Purchase Fire Department. Arriving crews found the vehicle in the right lane at mile marker 7.5 and soon put the fire out. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was later towed from the area.

Car Goes Up In Flames Near Taconic State Parkway In Yorktown
A vehicle blaze near a parkway in Northern Westchester sent a column of smoke into the air before it was put out by firefighters. The fire happened in Yorktown on Sunday morning, Aug. 25, when a vehicle was consumed by flames on Underhill Avenue near its crossing with the Taconic State Parkway, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department. Arriving fire crews were soon able to extinguish the blaze, the department said. No injuries were reported.

Police in Prince William County have launched a death investigation into a fiery crash Friday, Aug. 23, they said. The sole occupants of the vehicle that had crashed and went up in flames at Old Bridge and Occoquan Roads around 6:50 p.m. is believed to have placed gasoline in the passenger compartment of their vehicle just before that crash, police said.
