The Vernon Police Department has released body camera footage of a police officer that shot a loose dog. A neighbor can be heard telling Officer Rivera a local dog, "Hiro," had been running around loose for four or five hours Saturday afternoon. The neighbor told Rivera he tried giving the "rabid" dog water when it attacked him. Footage moments later shows Hiro barking and running toward the officer. Ex-Federal Employee Sentenced In Bridgeport After Being Caught With Child Porn On Laptop
An administrative officer for the Federal Aviation Administration who was busted with child pornography on his government-issued laptop in Connecticut has been sentenced to time in prison. Scott Pierson, 48, of Vernon, was sentenced in Bridgeport district court to 70 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release after pleading guilty earlier this year to one count of receipt of child pornography. A former administrative officer for the Federal Aviation Administration has admitted to accessing child pornography on his government-issued laptop in Connecticut. Vernon resident Scott Pierson, 58, pleaded guilty in district court in Bridgeport to one count of receipt of child pornography, U.S. Attorney John Durham announced. Police in Connecticut are cautioning area residents of a new scam making the rounds where fraudsters pose as representatives a local school district soliciting donations for a youth sports program. The Vernon Public School District recently alerted the Vernon Police Department of an unauthorized solicitation conducted by an out-of-state business. An El Salvadoran national is facing prison time after admitting to illegally reentering the country three times following his arrest for impaired driving when he crashed into a police cruiser in Connecticut. Alfredo Dagoberto Hercules-Santos, 40, has pleaded guilty in Bridgeport district court to one count of reentry of a removed alien. Connecticut State Police troopers recovered a stolen handgun and busted a man in possession of crack cocaine and other drugs during a speeding stop on I-84. Troopers conducting an enforcement detail on I-84 near exit 66 in Vernon stopped a vehicle when it was clocked going 84 mph on the interstate.
