The Northeast is home to some of the happiest people in the country, according to a new study.
WalletHub released its 2025 list of Happiest States in America on Monday, Sept. 8. The study compared all 50 states across 30 metrics of happiness, including depression and suicide rates, work hours, income growth, unemployment, family stability, volunteer rates, and safety.
The personal finance website also measured how many adults feel active and productive, as well as factors like sleep, leisure time, and community support.

Eleven Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball tickets worth a combined $2.4 million were sold in the Wednesday, Sept. 3, drawing, officials announced on Thursday, Sept. 4.
The winning tickets included a $1 million prize sold in Allegheny County, a $500,000 Double Play prize in Centre County, and nine $100,000 Power Play prizes sold across the state.

A New York lottery player is $1 million richer after matching five numbers in the Monday, Sept. 1 Powerball drawing, officials said.
The winning numbers for Labor Day were 8, 23, 25, 40, and 53, with a Powerball of 5 and a Power Play multiplier of 3x, according to the Powerball website.
