Franklin Lakes House Fire Doused
Firefighters quickly extinguished a Franklin Lakes house blaze before it could do more damage. Boxes apparently caught fire in the basement of the Summit Avenue home just off Route 208 shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, responders said. Firefighters had the flames knocked down within a half-hour, they said. The fire was declared under control minutes later. Mutual aid responders either at the scene or in coverage included firefighters from Fair Lawn, Midland Park, Ramsey, Waldwick and Wyckoff, responders said.

U-Turning Tractor-Trailer Rips Utility Lines From Popular Bergen County Restaurant
Business at a popular Bergen County restaurant was disrupted when a tractor-trailer driver making a U-turn ripped down utility lines. No injuries were reported in the 11:45 a.m. crash outside Nellie's Place in Waldwick on Wednesday. Owner Chris Roche, who was forced to close the popular Franklin Turnpike eatery during the noontime rush, said he expected to reopen on Thursday. SUV Mows Down Mailbox, Crashes Into Waldwick Home
One woman was hospitalized with what may be a broken arm and another with neck pain after an SUV collided with a sedan, bowled over a mailbox and smacked into the front of a Waldwick home. Ambulance crews from Waldwick and Allendale joined police at the scene on East Prospect Street right off southbound Route 17 shortly before noon. Both the Nissan Pathfinder that hit the house and the severely damaged Hyundai Elantra had to be towed. An apparently accidental weekend fire that claimed the life of a Bergen County teenager has staggered many in the community where she was raised, as well as others from area towns and beyond. Riley Boyle, 17, was in the shower when the fire broke out close to the rear entrance of the 2½-story Bonnie Way home around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, responders said. Wyckoff Firefighters Make Quick Work Of House Fire
Wyckoff firefighters quickly doused a house fire, preventing more serious damage. They responded to the Kingston Street blaze shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 1, and had the two-alarm fire knocked down within 15 minutes. No injuries were reported. Jeep Topples Traffic Light In Waldwick
A 17-year-old driver escaped injury when her Jeep knocked down a traffic light and damaged a junction box in Waldwick, authorities said. The borough driver's vehicle came to rest in a wooded area off the corner of Sheridan Avenue and East Prospect Street at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, March 6, Police Chief Mark F. Messner said. Waldwick firefighters tended to a smoke condition in the engine, the DPW blocked off the area and the state Department of Transportation was notified, the chief said. Residents and several cats safely fled an overnight house fire in Waldwick, responders said. The two-alarm midland blaze broke out in the attic of the Douglas Street home around midnight Sunday, March 5. Waldwick firefighters quickly doused the flames, sparing further damage. Repeat Child Porn Offender From Bergen Sentenced To 5 Years
A Bergen County landscaper who was caught collecting child porn for the second time in a decade was sentenced to five years in state prison. Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Cyber Crimes Unit arrested Jakob Menzo, 33, of Waldwick on June 10, 2021. Hackensack PD: Jaywalking Waldwick Woman, 83, Struck By SUV Driven By Westwood Resident, 80
An 83-year-old pedestrian from Waldwick was hospitalized -- and got a ticket -- after she was struck in Hackensack by an SUV driven by an 80-year-old Westwood woman, authorities said. The victim needed ankle surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center after she was struck on Berry Street by a Ford Edge whose driver had made a left from southbound State Street at 2:17 p.m. Sunday, Police Lt.
