Overnight Car Break-Ins Under Investigation In Westport
Police have been investigating a series of car break-ins after a resident saw two men going through a vehicle. Westport police said following the resident's call, officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects, said Westport Lt. Jillian Cabana. A total of two vehicles were broken into in the Saugatuck Shores area and one vehicle was stolen, she said. A vehicle stolen out of Norwalk on Nov. 9, was found dumped in the area. Two cars and a garage were destroyed during an intense fire in Westport on Halloween night. The Westport Fire Department received multiple calls for a reported house fire in the area of Sherwood Drive around 11:12 p.m. Wednesday, said the Westport Fire Department on Facebook. A Bridgeport man was arrested for stealing items from a home under construction after fingerprints linked him to the crime.Westport Police officers were dispatched for a report of a residential burglary to a home under construction on Sept. 28. A 65-inch television and Samsung sound bar were stolen from the wall resulting in $1,000 damage to the wall to which it was mounted, said the Westport Police. A group of five young men and women in a stolen vehicle drove head-on into a Fairfield police car in an effort to escape. Do you know her? The suspect shown above was seen stealing a wallet on surveillance by the security team at a Bank of America on Post Road. After receiving a tip from the Connecticut State Police, a Westport man has been arrested for possessing almost 5,000 images of child pornography. Michael Spero, 42, was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of child pornography after state police notified Westport Police in February of two cyber tips involving images of child pornography that had been uploaded to the internet, the department said.
