After firing the shots that nearly killed two people hiding in a closet, an 82-year-old Berks County man surrendered at police headquarters, LehighValleyLive reports.
It all began around 7:30 p.m. Monday when a woman and a girl told police that Hidalgo Rivera, of Fountain Hill, wanted the girl to leave the home in the 800 block of North Clewell Street, the news outlet says.
Rivera then went out to his car, and re-entered the home with a gun, claiming he was going to kill the girl, reports say.

A Berks County man was found guilty Wednesday of injuring a young boy in a shooting more than two years ago, authorities said.
Cesar Tavarez, 30, of Leesport, was convicted on charges of attempted murder, persons not to possess firearms, conspiracy, and related offenses, after a two-day trial, according to the Berks County District Attorney's Office.

A driver pleaded guilty Monday in a crash that killed a 22-year-old Allentown woman last year, reports say.
Amanda Ritter, 30, was driving 81 mph in a 35-mph zone and was intoxicated when she struck a Chevrolet Malibu at Overlook and Mauch Chunk Roads in Allentown on Jan. 14, 2020, WFMZ reports citing the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office.
The front-seat passenger in the Chevrolet, 22-year-old Yasmine Woodruff was pronounced dead at the scene, the outlet says. The driver, Keiana Allen, 21, two juvenile passengers were injured in the crash.
