Arlington's Chuck Todd Leaving 'Meet The Press'
If it's Sunday, Chuck Todd will now be able to sleep in. But Kristen Welker won't. The Arlington resident announced he is stepping down as moderator of NBC's "Meet the Press," the venerable Sunday morning news show. Todd had been moderator of the show since 2014 and his last show is expected to be in September. He said he will remain at NBC News. Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is set to make it official: he's running for president again. According to Axios, Christie, who was born in Newark and grew up in Livingston, plans to announce his candidacy for the 2024 Republican nomination on Tuesday, June 6 in New Hampshire. Police in Washington, DC say that a teen intentionally crashed a U-Haul into a security barrier near the White House on Monday night. Shortly before 10 p.m. on Monday, May 22, Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said that the driver of a box truck struck the gate on the north side of Lafayette Square near 16th Street. One person was taken into custody by Secret Service agents after striking a security gate near the White House, a spokesperson for the agency said. The morning commute was slightly impacted in DC on Tuesday, May 16, when an allegedly drunk driver struck a gate at approximately 4:30 a.m. near 15th Street and E Street.
