Flames rolled across the ceiling and smoke filled the home as Hasbrouck Heights Police Officer Christopher Connors dashed upstairs and carried a 65-year-old woman in a wheelchair to safety on Monday. The two-alarm fire broke out in the kitchen and quickly spread to the second floor of the Baldwin Terrace home shortly before 5 p.m. An 84-year-old family member met Connors as he arrived and pointed him to the trapped woman on the second floor, Hasbrouck Heights Police Sgt. Robber Blasts Motorcyclist, Rescuers With Bear Spray, Caught By Hasbrouck Heights Police
An ex-con was captured by Hasbrouck Heights police after he blasted a motorcyclist and two good Samaritans with bear spray in a violent robbery attempt, authorities said. The concerned citizens came running after seeing Jared Stun knock the motorcyclist to the ground in an attempt to steal his bike outside Cycle Gear on southbound Route 17 shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, Police Sgt. Wood-Ridge Firefighters Douse Blaze At Route 17 Auto Dealership
Firefighters doused a small blaze at a Route 17 auto dealership. The two-alarm debris fire ignited in the detailing room at East Coast Toyota on the southbound highway in Wood-Ridge around 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 22, responders said. Borough firefighters knocked it down within 20 minutes. A security guard wasn't immediately accounted for, responders said. Mutual aid responders at the scene or in coverage included firefighters from Carlstadt, East Rutherford and Hasbrouck Heights.
