The criminal career of a former Paramus high school basketball star continued a violent trend when he fought with borough police who seized him on an out-of-town warrant, authorities said. Repeat offender Jordan David Dufont, 23, was wanted in Westwood on charges of harassment and witness tampering when officers from the borough and Emerson tried to stop his car around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, they said. Smoke rolled out the front door as Saddle River Police Sgt. Diana Golonek and Officer Grant Novak arrived at a house fire just before midnight Thursday. The living-room blaze was beginning to cook, leaving the pair little time. Firefighters and police teamed up to rescue a dog who was pulled from a smoky house fire Saturday night in Hillsdale. The blaze apparently began in the basement of the home on Deer Trail Road at Ruckman Avenue at the Woodcliff Lake border around 6:30 p.m. May 27. Occupant Ejected In Garden State Parkway Rollover
A victim was in traumatic arrest after being ejected in a rollover evening rush-hour crash at the northern end of the Garden State Parkway, responders said. Hundreds of guests had a weekend-long Chanukah celebration cut short when a pipe burst at the Woodcliff Lake Hilton. The event was part of an annual weekend-long gathering of 800 or so attendees who simply headed home early after sirens sounded near the end of Shabbos shortly after 5:30 p.m. Dec. 24.
