A man was apprehended after he fired a handgun while at a party on Long Island, according to police.
The incident happened on Sunday, June 14 just before 12:30 a.m. in Wyandanch, Suffolk County Police said.
First Precinct officers responded to the residence located at 78 Brooklyn Ave. after hearing gunshots while on patrol.

Eight Shot, One Fatally, At House Party On Long Island
Eight people were shot, one fatally, during a house party on Long Island overnight.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13 in Wyandanch at 76 Grand Blvd., Suffolk County Police said.
One of the shooting victims, an adult man whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
The other victims, six adult men and one adult woman, were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Two of the men are in serious condition.

Long Island Man Charged With Shooting Female Housemate In Overnight Dispute
A man is behind bars after shooting his housemate during an overnight dispute on Long Island, police said.
It happened on Wednesday, Jan. 1 at approximately 2:40 a.m. in Wyandanch.
Steven Merriman, 59, was having a dispute with a female occupant of the home, located at 82 Irving Ave., when he shot her in the arm, Suffolk County Police said.
The woman, 36, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life-threatening injuries, said police.
