Long Island Man Seriously Injured After Falling Off ATV, Police Say A Long Island man was seriously injured after he fell off an ATV, according to police. Joseph DeMarie, 45, was operating a Yamaha ATV without a helmet on Glen Summer Road in Holbrook when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and fell to the ground at approximately 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, Suffolk County Police said. DeMarie, of Holbrook, was transported via Holbrook Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. It happened on Saturday, Oct. 26 at approximately 4:10 a.m. in Huntington. Thomas Horton, 55, of Manorville, was operating a 1996 Yamaha northbound on Centerport Road, near Blenheim Lane, when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed, Suffolk County Police said. Jesus Patino-Tapia's Yamaha bike went off the northbound side of the highway near milepost 116.7 around 3:45 a.m., NJ State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez said.
