Archbishop Stepinac Moves On In Football Playoffs WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Archbishop Stepinac and Iona Prep advanced to the semifinals of the Catholic High School Football League playoffs on Sunday while Rye and Tuckahoe advanced to the New York regionals during a busy football weekend. Stepinac (10-0) remains ranked No. 2 in the state by MaxPreps, while Iona Prep (7-2) is ranked 14th and Rye (9-1) climbed 18 spots to 33rd. Tuckahoe is ranked 245th in the state. Greenwich Ranks In Top 20 In MaxPreps' Football Rankings FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- New Canaan remains ranked No. 1 in Connecticut by MaxPreps and Darien is third as the high school football season gets ready to hit the stretch drive. The Rams and Blue Wave (both 9-0) won big league last week. New Canaan beat Wilton, 47-7, while the Blue Wave crushed Harding, 42-14. Fairfield Prep (7-2, seventh) is also among the state’s top 10. Darien Woman Delivers Gratitude With Thrift Shop Volunteerism DARIEN, Conn. --- Pat Parlette of Darien says her favorite place is wherever she is at the moment. Accidents Delay Morning Commute For Greenwich Drivers FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Fairfield County commuters awoke to a rough commute Friday with accidents on Interstate 84, Interstate 95 and the Merritt Parkway affecting the morning rush hour. The biggest delays occurred near Danbury on Interstate 84 eastbound. The roadway was closed between Exits 10 and 11 in Newtown due to an overturned tractor trailer. There was no estimate when the lanes would be re-opened. An accident on I-95 South at Exit 18 in Westport occurred at 6:43 a.m., and the shoulder was blocked.
