Metro-North Apologizes For Friday Delays, Adds Extra Trains WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Metro-North has apologized for overcrowded trains Friday morning and is running a Saturday schedule with extra trains for the peak afternoon rush Friday. As a result of the winter storm, Metro-North operated on a Saturday schedule Friday morning, which represents 40 percent of normal weekday service. There were also 14 extra trains in the morning -- nine on the New Haven Line, four on the Harlem Line and one on the Hudson Line -- bringing total service up to about 55 percent of a normal weekday. Hundreds Without Power In Westchester Friday WESTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Hundreds of people were without power in Westchester County Friday morning as a result of overnight snowfall. New York State Electric and Gas Corporation reported that 359 people were without power as of 10 a.m. Friday. There were 328 outages in Pound Ridge, 20 in Bedford and 11 in Yorktown Heights. Early Friday morning there were more than 300 Con Edison customers in Pleasantville without power, but by 10 a.m. power had been restored to all but one home. Some Westchester Homes Lose Power Due To Thursday Storm WESTCHESTER, N.Y. -- There were very few power outages in Westchester Thursday morning as a result of the snow storm, but outage numbers increased in the afternoon. Con Edison reports that as of 3:30 p.m. there are 342 Westchester customers without power. The majority of these outages are in New Rochelle, where 330 homes have been affected. There are 77 homes in North Castle without power. Con Ed estimates that power to these homes should be restored by 8 p.m. Thursday. Most Flights At Westchester Airport Canceled Thursday PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Most flights in and out of the Westchester County Airport have been canceled Thursday because of the snowstorm that has hit the area. The airport is open, but all flights set to arrive through 4:02 p.m. have been canceled. All flights scheduled to depart through 4:29 p.m. have been canceled, with the exception of the 3:29 p.m. Delta flight to Atlanta. As of 10:30 a.m. that flight is still listed as "on time." The airport urges travelers to contact their airline before coming to the airport in case of potential delays or cancelations.
