Port Chester Joins 2,900-Mile East Coast Greenway PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Port Chester will become part of a 2,900-mile trail from Maine to Florida as part of the East Coast Greenway. The East Coast Greenway project was started in 1991 by a group of cyclists and long trail enthusiasts. The goal is to link trails all along the East Coast that are used for non-motorized exercise and recreational activities such as biking and hiking. Rye Schools, Teachers Reach Agreement On New Contracts RYE, N.Y. – The Rye City School District and the Rye Teachers Association have reached an agreement that extends teacher contracts for the next two years. Teacher salaries will not increase during the 2013-14 school year under the new contract. Teachers will receive a 1.5 percent increase during the 2014-15 school year that would go into effect on Feb. 1, 2015. Salary steps will be frozen for the first seven months of each year.
