Barbed Fish Injures Ventnor City Swimmer: Beach Patrol
A man was injured by what appeared to be a ray's tail at a beach in Ventnor City, officials said. The man suffered a hand injury at around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, the Ventnor City Beach Patrol said. He received first-aid treatment at the scene. The injury was not confirmed to be from a shark bite and was likely caused by a skate, which is a type of ray with barbs on its tail. A Millville woman was accused of hopping a fence at a Bridgeton zoo and trying to pet a Bengal tiger, authorities said. Zyair Dennis, 24, was charged with one count of defiant trespassing, the Bridgeton Police Department said in a news release on Monday, Aug. 26. She was also cited for two violations of city ordinances about people climbing fences at Cohanzick Zoo. At least six people were without homes after a fire broke out at a condominium complex near Mays Landing, officials said. Firefighters responded to the Woodlands Condominiums at around 11:33 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, the Laureldale Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company said in a Facebook post. A beach in Cape May was shut down after a man was found dead, authorities said. Cape May police found the roughly 50-year-old man's body early in the morning on Monday, Aug. 26, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release. Four Marina Employees Suffer Smoke Inhalation During Boat Fire In Wildwood, Firefighters Say
Four people suffered smoke inhalation after a large boat caught fire at a marina in Wildwood, officials said. The fire started on the boat docked at Schooner Island Marina at around 12:39 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, the City of Wildwood Fire Department said in a Facebook post.
