Crash Shuts Down Route 18 South In Monmouth County A busy highway in Neptune Township was shut down for nearly an hour as emergency crews responded to a crash, officials said. Route 18 South was closed at exit 8B and the crash caused significant delays, according to a Facebook post by the Neptune Township Office of Emergency Management at around 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 7. Exit 8B is Route 18's interchange with Route 33.  Neptune officials said Route 18 South reopened just before 4 p.m. There was no word about how many vehicles were involved or if there were any injuries as of press time.
