A Sussex County man was arrested after police say he threatened to harm a woman and was found with a defaced rifle, a handgun, hollow-point ammunition, and high-capacity magazines following a multi-agency investigation.
Austin Babcock, 29, of Hardyston, was arrested on Monday, March 30, after Franklin Borough police investigated reports that he was unlawfully possessing firearms and had threatened a victim in the borough, authorities said.

A Bridgeton man charged with attempted murder after a shooting that left a Wildwood man hospitalized remains on the run, authorities said.
Bridgeton police responded to North Street on Wednesday, June 17, for a report of a gunshot victim, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said. The victim, a 47-year-old Wildwood man, was hospitalized in stable condition, according to Webb-McRae.

A Carteret school aide known for her laughter, generosity and devotion to her family has died at 55.
Ernestina Cruz died on Saturday, June 27, at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, according to her obituary on the Chubenko Funeral Home website.
Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Cruz moved to Carteret in 1987 and spent years working as a teacher's aide for Carteret Public Schools.
