Motorcyclist Injured After Striking Bear On Route 78: Njsp A 31-year-old Phillipsburg man was hospitalized after he struck a bear on Route 78 in Hunterdon County on Saturday, June 7, authorities said. At 11:21 p.m., troopers responded to Route 78 West in Clinton Township after a bear entered the roadway and was struck Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling west, Christopher Postorino, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The motorcycle overturned and ejected the driver, Postorino said. The driver was  transported to an area hospital, Postorino said. The crash remains under investigation, Postorino said.
