Robert John Flynn, 62, Darien Resident, Executive With Shipping Firm DARIEN, Conn. -- Robert John Flynn, 62, of Darien, died on Friday, Feb. 20. He was born on Aug. 6, 1952, to Sally and Robert Flynn and grew up in Bridgeport. He graduated in 1970 from Notre Dame High School, where he met his wife of 37 years, Roseanne. After high school, Flynn earned a bachelor of science degree from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London. He was a U.S. Coast Guard officer from 1974-1979 and was commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Cape Strait. Houlihan Lawrence Acquires Shore & Country In Greenwich GREENWICH, Conn. -- Houlihan Lawrence has acquired Shore & Country Properties, a residential brokerage in Greenwich. Shore & Country’s 20 agents brokered about $165 million in home sales in 2014, according to the announcement, which was made Monday. Dustin Arthur Smith, 31, Former Darien Resident DARIEN, Conn. -- Dustin Arthur Smith, 31, a former Darien resident, died on Saturday, Feb. 14, in New Orleans. Smith was born April 11, 1983, in New York and attended grade schools in Darien and graduated from King Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford. He graduated from Wake Forest University where he received a bachelor of science in computer science with a minor in neuroscience in 2004. Dustin was invited by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to join its acclaimed Media Lab focusing on artificial intelligence. Douglas L. Zerrilla, 85, Former Ossining Fire Chief OSSINING, N.Y. -- Douglas L. Zerrilla, 85, a longtime Ossining resident and the town's former fire chief, died Saturday, Feb. 21. Zerrilla was born in Ossining on Oct. 5, 1929, and was the son of Michael and Lillian. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was the fire chief of the Ossining Fire Department in 1987-88 and was a member of Ladder 41. Zerrilla is survived by his wife, Judy; his sister, Dorothy Thomas; several stepchildren and many stepgrandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Norwalk Winner Scoops Up $1M Powerball Windfall After Blizzard NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk winner of $1 million in a Powerball drawing picked up the prize at lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill just after a blizzard dumped snow on Connecticut in late January.
