A shoplifting attempt at the Westfield Garden State Plaza turned violent when a man allegedly punched a loss prevention officer before fleeing, Paramus police said.
Officers responded to the store at approximately 2:40 p.m. Friday, July 31, for a reported robbery in progress, after a loss prevention officer told police he heard the store's electronic article surveillance system activate and investigated the alarm, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said.
