The warning comes after Suffolk County Police learned of two rental scams that occurred in Medford in March 2023. Emergency crews in Schenectady County recovered a body in the Mohawk River in Niskayuna on Thursday, May 25, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Contractor Scammed Homeowner In Capital Region Out Of $23K, Police Say A contractor is facing charges after allegedly scamming a homeowner in the region out of thousands of dollars. Rensselaer County resident Robert Thomas, age 35, of the town of Stephentown, was arrested Monday, May 22, on charges of grand larceny and forgery. According to State Police, a Schenectady County homeowner initially contacted troopers in July 2022 claiming to be the victim of a construction scam.
