State Police Announce Times, Locations For Labor Day Weekend DUI/Sobriety Checkpoints As drivers gear up for the long Labor Day weekend, Connecticut State Police are increasing patrols to catch drunk, impaired, and reckless drivers. State police said troopers throughout the state will be conducting roving DUI patrols from midnight Friday, Sept. 2, and continuing through Monday night, Sept. 5. Investigators have recovered human remains in Western Massachusetts believed to be that of missing New York high school teacher Meghan Marohn, age 42, of Delmar in Albany County, an English teacher at Shaker High School in Latham. Capital District Woman Nabbed 2 Years After Stealing Rental Car, Police Say A woman from the region is facing charges, nearly two years after she allegedly stole a rental car from Georgia, authorities said. State police in Washington County spotted the vehicle shortly before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, on Main Street in Kingsbury. CT Man Sentenced For Scams That Defrauded Hundreds Of Victims Across US Out Of Millions A Connecticut man who took part in a massive scheme defrauding elderly victims out of millions of dollars is heading to federal prison. Rodney Thomas, age 31, of New Haven, was sentenced to six years behind bars Tuesday, Aug. 23 in federal court in Bridgeport after a jury convicted him of multiple charges stemming from the scheme. 44-Year-Old Canoer Drowns In Capital District Lake Crews have recovered the body of a 44-year-old man who drowned in a Capital District lake. Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials were called shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, with reports of a person struggling in the waters of Saratoga Lake, approximately a quarter mile north of Brown’s Beach in Stillwater. Drunk Long Island Man Nabbed Traveling Wrong Way On Meadowbrook State Parkway, Police Say State police likely averted tragedy after stopping an allegedly drunk, wrong-way driver on Long Island. Calls made to 911 started coming in at around 4 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, with reports of a vehicle driving the wrong way on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Hempstead.
