A burglary at a Rahway sandwich shop has police investigating whether the break-in is connected to other recent commercial burglaries in the city, according to police. Officers responded to Mr. Subs on Paterson Avenue after receiving a report of a burglary during the early morning hours, according to Rahway Police Director Frank D'Errico and Chief Law Enforcement Officer Shawn M. A 39-year-old man who ICE agents had apparently mistaken for another man who had already fled the country is facing federal charges, according to federal officials. Eduardo Cruz Garcia, of Barnegat, was charged by criminal complaint with assaulting a federal officer while the officer was performing official duties and inflicting bodily injury in connection to the Monday, June 15 incident on Route 72 in Manahawkin, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. A woman was killed and her teen daughter was airlifted with serious injuries in a three-vehicle crash involving a dump truck on Route 23 in Franklin Borough on Thursday morning, June 18, police and Daily Voice sources said. The sudden death of an Englewood police sergeant has left his family, fellow officers, and the community mourning the loss of a man described as a dedicated officer, trusted friend, and devoted father. A tractor-trailer became tangled in overhead utility wires on a Fair Lawn street, sending sparks flying early Thursday morning, June 18, incident photographer Boyd A. Loving reports. Teen Tourist Killed When Central Park Carriage Horse Gets Loose: Police
An 18-year-old man died after falling from a horse-drawn carriage in Central Park, police said. The incident happened near 71st Street and Center Drive at 2:47 p.m., according to the NYPD.
