James Holmes Sentenced For Albany Stabbing: DA
An Albany man who stabbed another man for not giving him a cigarette has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison, authorities said Friday, May 1.
James Holmes, 62, got 12 years behind bars for the stabbing, which he pleaded guilty to in early March, the Albany County District Attorney’s office said.
A 34-year-old man was walking down Central Avenue on Aug. 14, 2025, when Holmes approached him and asked to bum a cigarette, authorities said. The victim told police he said no and walked away.

Louie Diabo, 19, was pulled over while driving on Interstate 87 through Clifton Park for vehicle and traffic violations, New York State Police said Thursday, April 30.

Bazeil Phoenix, 32, was released on bail with an electronic monitor following his court appearance, the Albany County District Attorney’s office said.

A registered sex offender wanted in Texas has been arrested in the Capital Region, police said Tuesday, April 28.
Kevin Herron Jr., 40, was arrested following a domestic disturbance call at a Red Roof Inn in Clifton Park about 20 minutes after midnight on Tuesday, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office said.

A Stony Brook University student was busted selling meth and ketamine out of his dorm room on Monday, April 27, police said.
William Turri, 20, was charged with four counts of possession and one count of selling controlled substances and will be held overnight until his arraignment Tuesday, April 28, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
