Man Drowns In Seaside Heights After Swimmers Caught In Rip Tide: Sheriff A man drowned in Seaside Heights at Webster Avenue Beach on Monday, Aug. 11, authorities said. At 7 p.m., six people got caught in a rip tide prompting first responders to the scene, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office said. Long Island Man Stole $500K From NJ Employer: Prosecutor A 28-year-old Valley Stream man was arrested and charged with stealing nearly  $500,000 from an employer in Monmouth County, authorities announced Tuesday, Aug. 12. Joseph Hardoon's former employer discovered he stole $497,500 while serving as bookkeeper for an Ocean Township business between 2021 and 2024, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said.  Hardoon was charged with theft by unlawful taking, Santiago said.

Rumson Boater Pulled From Shrewsbury River Dies: Njsp A 63-year-old Rumson man died after he was pulled from the water  in Monmouth County on Saturday, Aug. 10, authorities said. At 10:43 p.m., troopers responded to a vessel incident on the Shrewsbury River in Sea Bright Boro, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Juan Mejia was recovered from the water and transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Lebron said. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

The Millville resident sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Lebron said. The driver sustained minor injuries, Lebron said.  The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

At 3:56 p.m., a Harley Davidson motorcycle struck the back of a Coach Bus that was entering the highway from a driveway on Route 38 West in Southampton Township, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.  The motorcycle overturned and the motorcyclist was ejected, sustaining serious injuries, Lebron said.
