Saratoga County native Jimmy Thomas, age 61, of Ballston Spa, is currently kayaking from the town of Glenville all the way to Key West, Florida. He then plans to bicycle back to upstate New York. Ramon Martines, age 39, of Hempstead, was sentenced to 25 years behind bars Monday, Oct. 17, in Nassau County Court, more than a month after he pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and second-degree conspiracy in the March 2017 killing of Nelson Rodriguez. Capital Region Man Nabbed For DWI Twice In Same Day, Police Say A man from the Capital Region was arrested not once, but twice in the same day for allegedly driving while intoxicated, authorities said. State Police in Saratoga County were called at around 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, with reports of a pickup truck off the roadway in Corinth, on Wilton Mountain Road. Kathy Hochul signed a new law Thursday, Oct. 13, that prohibits state agencies from charging students an additional fee when collecting outstanding student debt.
