A Connecticut man driving through New York was arrested with an illegal gun, police said.
Chris Dumas, 37, of Waterbury, was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 through Canaan, NY, when he was pulled over for a traffic stop around 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, New York State Police said.
Troopers found a loaded Glock 40 handgun in Dumas’s possession, authorities said. He was charged with second-degree weapons possession and criminal firearm possession, state police said.

A New York man with 22 driver’s license suspensions was arrested behind the wheel in the Capital Region, police said.
David W. Swartz, 41, of Broadalbin, was charged with felony unlicensed operation of a vehicle, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office said.
Swartz was pulled over for speeding on Main Street in Clifton Park around 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, authorities said. Officers then learned of his 22 active license suspensions, stemming from 18 suspensions on 10 different days, according to the sheriff’s office.

Peterson Jules, 40, of East Patchogue, was arraigned Wednesday, Aug. 5 on four counts of second-degree criminal impersonation, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
Jules used to work as a Special Officer with New York City Health and Hospitals, but he was terminated in April 2022, authorities said.
