Car Sliced In Half, Driver Ejected In Deadly Smithtown Crash, Police Say
A car split in half in a deadly wreck on Long Island’s Northern State Parkway on Monday, May 25, police said.
Salvatore Sparacino IV, 29, was driving a 2010 Volkswagen EOS and killed in the single-car crash, New York State Police said. Sparacino, of Smithtown, was the only person in the car, authorities said.
The vehicle was traveling westbound on the Northern State Parkway near the New Highway overpass in Smithtown when it crashed, investigators said. New York State Police determined “erratic operation and unsafe speed” contributed to the wreck, according to authorities.

A Long Island man admitted to stealing nearly $1 million from his employer in a guilty plea Friday, May 22, authorities said.
Gregory Morgan, 54, bought a 36-foot speedboat, a $2,000 Miele coffee maker, and spent $170,000 on home improvements with his stolen money, the Nassau County District Attorney’s office said.
“Morgan wanted someone else to foot the bill for his luxurious lifestyle, but that life is over, and he will soon be heading to state prison,” District Attorney Anne Donnelly said.

A New York man accused of raping a teenage girl and providing her with alcohol has been arrested, state police announced Friday, May 22.
Tobias Buchanan, 25, of Kingston, was charged with third-degree rape, sexual misconduct, two counts of child endangerment, and first-degree unlawful dealing with a child, New York State Police said.
