Rockland Tops In Lower Hudson In Single-Family Home Sales ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- It's a good time to be selling a home in Rockland.Overall home sales in Rockland were up 29.3 percent in the first quarter compared to last year, according to the Hudson Gateway Multiple Listing Service. In the first quarter, 444 singe-family homes were sold in Rockland, an increase of 23.7 from last year, according to HGMLS. Rockland also saw a 32.7 percent increase in condominiums sold, with 118 being sold in the first quarter. A seller's market also means prices have gone up in Rockland. On Tuesday, the county is hosting its annual best tap water contest in White Plains. Residents can quench their thirst with water and then vote for their favorite. New Sighting: Missing North Salem Wallaby Spotted In Somers Indy the wallaby remains on the move. The wallaby, who has captured the community's attention since he went missing from his North Salem home three years ago, was spotted in Heritage Hills in Somers Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. by Linda Pisogna, a Heritage Hills resident. Former Yonkers Priest Beatified By Vatican A priest who served in the Hudson Valley is on the track to sainthood. Rev. Solanus Casey was beatified by Pope Francis on Thursday, with the church attributing a miracle to him. Beatification is the next step on the road to becoming a saint. Casey, who died in 1957 at age 86, would be the first American-born male Catholic saint. Casey's first assignment was at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers.
