Lopes Will Give Pro Circuit a Tri Valentin Lopes jumped on the fast track to triathlon success when he was just 7 years old in his native Brazil. That's when he started swimming. And by age 14, he was that country's national champion. But on the way to becoming an international elite, Valentin stopped when he was 17. "It's hard when you get started so early,'' Valentin said. "At 17, I could've raced as a professional. I was already training so hard." Lopes attended law school in Brazil for a few years, moved to America – and jumped back into triathlon training. He joined Trifitness in Fairfield in 2007 and is back among the…

Norwalk Falls in Soccer Playoffs Norwalk Falls in Soccer Playoffs Norwalk Falls in Soccer Playoffs
Norwalk Falls in Soccer Playoffs The 2010 Norwalk High School boys soccer team will remember its season for earning the top seed in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference playoffs, attaining the state's No. 1 ranking and establishing the Bears as a state power. Unfortunately for the Bears, all those accolades seemed hollow after Thursday's 2-1 loss to Simsbury in the second round of the Class LL tournament at Testa Field. Norwalk (15-2) scored first on Jake Zuniga's blast from about 25 yards out in the 48th minute. Simsbury, the 13th seed, answered in the 52nd minute when Matthew Poomprakobsri took a throu…
