Capone Brings Racing Up to Speed When Don Capone took over as race director for the Lightfoot Running Club's Summer Series in 2003, he was concerned about its health. "I didn't want to see running die in Norwalk,'' he says. Instead, running has flourished. The 33rd annual Sam Elpern Half Marathon begins Saturday at 8 a.m. at Fox Run School in Norwalk, and Capone believes there could be 250 runners on the starting line. There were 229 runners in last year's race, a jump of 82 from 2008. "I think running is a tremendous release for a lot of people, and in these times people want to celebrate,'' he says.
