The median price fell 5 percent in the third quarter, and is flat over the past 12 months. Sales were up in Darien (10 percent) and down in New Canaan (4 percent). Activity really took off in Stamford, however, with a 21 percent increase in homes sold. There were 241 transactions in Stamford in the third quarter, and 2,246 in the county. 3rd Quarter Home Sales Climb 19 Percent In Fairfield FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Third quarter real estate sales improved by 10 percent over the same time frame in 2014, according to statistics released by William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty. The median price fell 5 percent in the third quarter, and is flat over the past 12 months. Sales climbed 19 percent in Fairfield and Stratford. Monroe (9 percent) and Trumbull (7 percent) also saw an increase in sales. For the past 12 months, sales are up 20 percent in Stratford, 17 percent in Monroe and 16 percent in Fairfield. Easton Triathlete Finishes 2nd In Ironman Maryland EASTON, Conn. -- Easton’s Chris Thomas finished second overall and first in his age group Saturday in the Ironman Maryland. Thomas finished the race in 8 hours, 50 minutes and 21 seconds. Tim Smith of New Zealand won in 8:38:21. Thomas’ finish also earned him a spot in the 2016 Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. The swim in the Maryland race was shortened to 3,000 meters due to high winds. The event also includes a 112-mile bicycle ride and a 26.2 mile run.
