Expect Delays On Newburgh-Beacon Bridge Starting Sept. 2 PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- An ongoing deck replacement on the Newburgh-Beach Bridge could cause delays for drivers beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2. The traffic pattern on the eastbound side of the bridge will change on that date. Work is scheduled to begin that night. The span will be limited to two lanes around the clock and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph as a safety precaution for travelers and workers. Taxi Driver Killed After Violent Struggle In North Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. -- A city taxi driver is dead after he was stabbed in what Stamford police say was a violent struggle both inside and outside his Stamford taxi early Wednesday morning.  Mahomed Kamal, 47, was found on the lawn of 150 Doolittle Road at about 8:30 a.m. by landscapers, police said. The home is in the Westover area of Stamford close to the Den Road exit on the the Merritt Parkway.  The taxi was impaled on a wooden portion of the street nearby, police said.  Kamal was pronounced dead at the scene. Stamford Police Investigating 'Untimely Death' On Doolittle Road STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford police are investigating "an untimely death" that occurred on Doolittle Road on Wednesday morning, according  to Public Information Officer Sgt. Kelly Connelly. Connelly said police had no comment about the ongoing investigation. A press release will be available later in the day, Connelly said. The Advocate reported a special operations truck arrived at 150 Doolittle Road at 9:15 and a crime scene investigation unit arrived shortly afterwards. Doolittle Road is a dead end street off of Den Road in the Roxbury area of Stamford.

Record Field Runs In New Canaan Race For Autism NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A record number of runners completed the 5K run Friday in New Canaan at the All Out For Autism race. New Balance New Canaan sponsored the race, which had 395 finishers. There was also a kids fun run before the main event in the sixth annual edition of the race. Mike St. George, 15, of New Canaan was the overall winner for the 3.1-mile distance in 18:56. Eliza Hompe, 22, also of New Canaan, won the women’s overall race in 19:51.
