Fairfield Firefighters Respond To Garden Court Gas Leak FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Fire Department responded to a report of a gas leak on Monday afternoon, Aug. 18, at 5 Garden Court. Companies 2, 3, and 5 responded to the call. Engine 3 Lt. Lee Corbo took command and reported a natural gas line break on the street side of the meter in front of an occupied two-story, wood-framed home and asked Southern Connecticut Gas to assist in shutting off the gas. Easton's Thomas Claims Top Amateur Spot In 70.3-Mile Ironman Race EASTON, Conn. -- Easton’s Chris Thomas finished fifth overall and first among amateurs Sunday at the Ironman 70.3-mile Timberman race in Gilford, N.H. Thomas finished the race in 4 hours, 8 minutes and 57 seconds. There were more than 2,200 athletes in the race. Thomas had the top time in his age group in the bike and run. He was second among 40-44-year-old athletes in the swim. Thomas finished off the race with a 13.1 mile run in 1:21:50. The race also consisted of a 1.2 mile swim and 56-mile bike ride. All 150-plus members of the Band/Guard assemble at 8:30 in the morning and play, march, play and march some more until they are finally dismissed at 8:30 at night.
