Hackley's Dominique Alpuche Is Daily Voice Athlete Of The Month TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Dominique Alpuche and her Hackley School girls lacrosse  teammates are intent on repeating as state champions in the New York State Association of Independent Schools. The senior from Chappaqua has done her part in helping the Hornets take a big step toward that goal. Alpuche has 37 goals in 10 games for unbeaten Hackley, and has been named The Daily Voice Athlete of the Month for Westchester County for April. Teams have taken their best shot at the Hornets, who went undefeated in 2012. But led by Alpuche, the Hornets have picked right up where they left off last year. …

Norwalk Cal Ripken Starts New Wood Bat League NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk Cal Ripken Baseball has opened registration for a new wood bat league for players ages 7 to 12 that will play games in June and July. There will be a Minor Division for players ages 7 to 9 and a Major Division for players 10 to 12. Two games will be played each week at Fox Run Elementary School. Players from outside Norwalk are encouraged to register. Registration fee is $50. Players can register online.

Norwalk's Maritime Rowing Wins Six Golds At Saratoga NORWALK, CONN. -- Maritime Rowing Club won 13 medals, including six goals, at the Saratoga Invitational last weekend. The Men’s Varsity 4 won with Mike Senf, Grham Mink, Glen Wolyner and Stephen Gerasimoff, edging Saugatuck Rowing Club of Westport by .69 seconds. The Women’s Varsity 4 won with Cara Hoelzel, Mary Campbell, Claire Campbell and Bea Tobey, winning by almost six seconds Maritime also won the second Varsity 4s. Danbury's Brendan Melanophy Heads To Jets Rookie Camp DANBURY, Conn. – Monday’s release of Tim Tebow by the New York Jets made headlines, but Danbury’s Brendan Melanophy also made news with coach Rex Ryan’s squad. Melanophy, a senior at Fordham, was one of three players reportedly invited to the team’s rookie minicamp in May.
